Tenses — Expressing time: present, past and future.

Rules

1. Form: base verb; third-person singular adds -s/-es — He works. 2. Negative: do/does + not + base — She does not smoke. 3. Question: Do/Does + subject + base — Do you play? 4. Uses: habits (I walk daily), facts (Water boils at 100°C), schedules (The train leaves at 6). 5. State verbs (know, like, believe) usually stay in simple, not continuous.

Explanation

Use present simple for repeated actions and general truths. Do not use it for actions happening right now — that is present continuous.

Q1. "She goes" is correct because third-person singular verbs add -es to "go".

Answer: True

💡 Verbs ending in -o add -es in the third-person singular: go → goes.

Q2. Translate into English: "मैं शाकाहारी हूँ, इसलिए मैं मछली नहीं खाता।"

Answer: I am a vegetarian, so I do not eat fish.

💡 Present simple for a general fact; negative → do not eat.

Q3. Complete: "The library ___ at 9 and ___ at 5."

Answer: opens / closes
