Present Perfect

Tenses intermediate medium

Past actions connected to the present.

Tenses — Expressing time: present, past and future.

Rules

1. Form: has/have + past participle — She has finished. 2. Uses: experience (I have visited Jaipur), recent result (He has broken his leg), unfinished time (I have eaten today). 3. Signal words: just, already, yet, ever, never, since, for. 4. Do not use with finished time words (yesterday, last week, in 2019) — use past simple. 5. "Have gone to" vs "have been to": He has gone to Delhi (is there now); He has been to Delhi (visited before).

Explanation

Present perfect links past and present. If the time is finished (yesterday, last year), past simple is correct: "I saw him yesterday" not "I have seen him yesterday".

हिंदी में
