Finite Verbs

Verbs upper_intermediate hard

Finite verbs show tense and agree with the subject.

Verbs — Verb forms, modals and non-finite verbs.

Rules

1. A finite verb changes for tense and agrees with its subject. 2. Each independent clause needs a finite verb. 3. Examples: writes, wrote, is writing (finite); to write, writing, written (non-finite). 4. Only one finite verb per clause unless clauses are joined.

Explanation

In "I want to go", "want" is finite (it agrees with "I" and shows tense); "to go" is non-finite.

हिंदी में

सीमित क्रिया (finite verb) काल दिखाती है और कर्ता से मेल खाती है; असीमित क्रिया (non-finite) कभी नहीं बदलती।
