Sentence Skills — Detection, correction, rearrangement and translation.

Rules

1. First word of every sentence: The train is late. 2. The pronoun "I" is always capital. 3. Proper nouns (names of people, places, languages, nationalities): Ravi, Delhi, English, Indian. 4. Days, months and festivals: Monday, June, Diwali. 5. Titles before names: Dr Sharma, Mr Verma. 6. First word of a quotation: She said, "Come here." 7. NOT for common nouns, seasons or general subjects: the city, summer, mathematics.

Explanation

Capital letters mark the beginning of sentences and identify specific names. Indian-English writing often over-capitalises (Maths, Summer) or under-capitalises (i, monday). Learn the fixed list of what is capitalised.

हिंदी में

अंग्रेज़ी में बड़े अक्षर (capital letters) वाक्य की शुरुआत, व्यक्ति/स्थान के नाम और सर्वनाम "I" के लिए आते हैं। कॉमन संज्ञा, ऋतु या विषय के नाम पर capital नहीं लगता।
