Adjectives

Foundation beginner easy

Adjectives describe or qualify nouns and pronouns.

Foundation — The building blocks of English grammar.

Rules

1. Descriptive: a red car, a happy child. 2. Quantitative: some milk, many books. 3. Demonstrative: this book, those pens. 4. Possessive: my bag, their house. 5. Comparison forms: tall → taller → tallest; good → better → best. 6. Order (opinion-size-age-colour-origin-material): a beautiful small old brown Italian wooden table.

Explanation

Adjectives do not change for plural in English: "red cars", not "reds cars". Use comparative (-er/more) for two and superlative (-est/most) for three or more.

हिंदी में

विशेषण संज्ञा की विशेषता बताता है। अंग्रेज़ी में विशेषण बहुवचन में नहीं बदलता — हमेशा "red cars" कहते हैं।

Practice Questions

Q1. Fill in the blank: "Mount Everest is the ___ (high) mountain in the world."

Answer: highest

💡 Superlative of high → highest.

Q2. Which sentence contains an error?

Answer: He is more taller than me.

💡 Taller is already comparative — no "more".

Q3. She is ___ than her sister.

Answer: taller

💡 Comparing two people → comparative (taller).
